Key Points from our Tribal FIRE masterclass

  • Encourage everyone to make eye contact and smile at each other as you pass other participants.
  • Explore the whole space (room) throughout the class
  • Encourage participants to listen to their own body, rest when they need to and do what feels good to them.
  • Remember that you can never know someone's body better than they do so empower, remind and reinforce participants to tune in and feel what is right and good for them.
  • If moving into high impact or energy moves always try and offer a low impact variation.
  • Constantly remind participants throughout the class to explore the movement in their own way, that there is no right or wrong and to do what feels good.
  • And most importantly... Think about what music YOU love and what you could layer together to create your own special group fitness experience that may inspire not only yourself but those around you... YOU have greatness in you and something very special to bring to your community. Make it your own, do what you love and go out and GET STARTED!!!

And watch this to check out some of our Tribal FIRE moves, sequencing and layering ideas...

Building up the sequence & set yourself free...

  • Start simple and build the group up from movements they are very comfortable with (like walking) to more free form movements. Example...
  • We started standing with our feet hip width apart, knees slightly bent, eyes closed and connecting to our breath...
  • Listen to the beat of the music and walk the room, change direction every four steps. Explore as much of the room as possible.
  • During the warm up we did difference variations on walking patterns... Little steps, big steps, light steps, heavy steps, high knees, long strides, sumo squats.
  • See more ideas on video clip above.
  • Remember to make it your own and trust in your inner wisdom, guidance and intuition... Dance is so powerful especially if you keep it simple and then let people put their own swing on it as they explore the movement in their own way, thus finding a sense of self expression rather than trying to fit into the movement the way someone else does it.

For me my favourite place to dance is out in nature and I especially love moving, breathing, exploring my movement and dancing whilst listening to music on my ipod whilst upon rocks that meet the seas where I can feel all four elements. Earth (rocks), Air (wind and breath), Fire (the sun) and Water (ocean).

So I've filmed these notes for you in my favourite stuido which is, the great outdoors and natures playground of the EARTH where the ocean meets the land on the rocks at Terrigal Haven on the beautiful Central Coast of NSW Australia... so how about it, will you get out somewhere you feel inspired and give it a go as you move and groove into your own intuitive style of dance.

Let yourself seek inspiration from nature, the earth, the elements and animals. Explore movement in your own body as you listen to different types of music that you like and remember, do what you love and what feels great!
